Privacy Policy

Life Maintenance — lifemaintenance.io
Effective date: March 12, 2026 — Version 1.0

The short version: We collect only the information we need to run Life Maintenance. We do not sell your data. We share it only with the specific services that power the app (hosting, payments, email). You can delete your account and all your data at any time.

1. Who we are

Life Maintenance (“Life Maintenance”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website lifemaintenance.io and the Life Maintenance mobile application (together, the “Service”). The Service helps you track and schedule maintenance tasks for your home, vehicles, appliances, family members, and pets.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Service, how we use and protect it, and what choices and rights you have. If you have questions, you can always reach us at privacy@lifemaintenance.io.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: information you give us, information we collect automatically when you use the Service, and information we receive from third-party sign-in providers.

Information you give us

  • Account information — your name and email address when you sign up with email/password.
  • Google sign-in — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Asset information — details about the things you track: your home, vehicles, appliances, pets, and family members (e.g., vehicle make/model/year, pet name and breed). You control exactly what you enter here.
  • Maintenance records — tasks, schedules, completion logs, and any notes you add.
  • Support messages — if you contact us by email, we keep a record of that conversation.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — which features you use, how often you open the app, and similar product analytics. We use this to understand what’s working and what needs improvement.
  • Device and technical data — device type, operating system version, app version, and a random device identifier. On the web, this includes your browser type and IP address.
  • Push notification token — a unique token generated by your device so we can deliver maintenance reminder notifications. You can turn these off in your device settings at any time.
  • Error reports — if the app crashes or encounters an error, we may collect a diagnostic report (stack trace, app state) to help us fix the problem. These reports do not intentionally contain your personal content.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not store your payment card number, CVV, or full card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe (see Section 4).
  • We do not collect your precise GPS location unless you explicitly share it.
  • We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or sell it to data brokers.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Service. Specifically:

  • To run your account — create and authenticate your account, sync your data across devices, and restore it if you reinstall the app.
  • To send reminders — email you and send push notifications about upcoming or overdue maintenance tasks based on the schedules you set.
  • To process payments — manage your subscription, process upgrades or downgrades, and send receipts.
  • To improve the product — understand which features are used most, identify bugs, and prioritise what to build next. This analysis is done on aggregated or anonymised data wherever possible.
  • To respond to you — answer support requests and reply to feedback you send us.
  • To keep things secure — detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access to accounts.
  • To meet legal obligations — comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests from authorities, and enforce our Terms of Service.

We will only send you marketing or promotional emails if you explicitly opt in to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any such email.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR): Where the GDPR applies, we process your personal data on these legal bases: contract performance (to operate your account and deliver the Service), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and product analytics where those interests are not overridden by your rights), and consent (for marketing emails and optional analytics).

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share it only with the third-party service providers listed below, and only to the extent necessary for them to do their job.

We may also disclose information if required by law (for example, in response to a court order or subpoena), or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Life Maintenance, our users, or the public.

If Life Maintenance is acquired by or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you by email and/or a prominent notice on the Service before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as long as we need it to provide the Service. Here is how that breaks down:

  • Active account data (your profile, assets, schedules, and history) is retained for as long as you have an account.
  • Deleted items you remove within the app are permanently deleted from our database within 30 days.
  • When you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or compliance purposes (for example, transaction records for tax purposes, which we keep for up to 7 years as required by applicable law).
  • Backups may retain copies of your data for up to 90 days after deletion while backup rotation cycles complete.
  • Analytics data is retained in anonymised or aggregated form and may be kept indefinitely as it can no longer be linked back to you.

To delete your account, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or email privacy@lifemaintenance.io and we will take care of it for you.

6. Your rights and choices

You have real control over your data. Here is what you can do:

  • Access — you can view all the information in your account at any time from within the app. To request a full export of your data, email privacy@lifemaintenance.io.
  • Correct — you can update your name, email, and all asset and schedule data directly in the app at any time.
  • Delete — you can delete individual assets, records, or your entire account (see Section 5 above).
  • Portability — you can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format (JSON or CSV). Email us at privacy@lifemaintenance.io.
  • Opt out of marketing email — use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or turn off marketing communications in Settings → Notifications.
  • Turn off push notifications — in your device’s system settings, or in Settings → Notifications in the app.
  • Opt out of analytics — email us and we will flag your account to be excluded from product analytics.

EU / UK residents (GDPR): In addition to the rights above, you have the right to object to processing, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@lifemaintenance.io. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA): California law gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise your California rights, email privacy@lifemaintenance.io with the subject line “California Privacy Request”. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

7. Cookies and analytics

The Life Maintenance website uses a small number of cookies. Here is what they are for:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to work, including keeping you signed in and remembering your session. You cannot opt out of these while using the site.
  • Analytics cookies — we use PostHog to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, features used, time spent). PostHog is configured to anonymise IP addresses. You can opt out by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser or by contacting us.

The mobile app does not use browser cookies. We use a random device identifier (generated on first launch) for the same session and analytics purposes.

We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data with ad networks.

8. Security

We take security seriously. Here is what we do to protect your data:

  • All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher.
  • Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 on our database infrastructure (Supabase on AWS).
  • Access to the database is restricted to authenticated services; no internal employee has routine access to your personal content.
  • Passwords are hashed and salted using industry-standard algorithms — we never store passwords in plain text.
  • API keys and secrets are stored as environment variables, not in source code.

No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at privacy@lifemaintenance.io.

Data breach notification: If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you by email as required by applicable law, and no later than 72 hours after becoming aware of the breach where required by GDPR.

9. Children’s privacy

Life Maintenance is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@lifemaintenance.io and we will delete it promptly.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian before using the Service.

10. International data transfers

Life Maintenance is operated from the United States and our primary database is hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another region with laws governing data transfer, please be aware that your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the legal mechanism for transferring personal data from the EU to the United States. Our data processors (Supabase, Stripe, Resend, Expo) maintain their own transfer mechanisms in accordance with GDPR requirements.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a significant change, we will:

  • Update the “Effective date” at the top of this page.
  • Send you an email notification if the changes materially affect how we handle your data.
  • Show an in-app notice the first time you open the app after a significant update.

Continuing to use the Service after a policy update means you accept the updated policy. If you do not agree with a change, you can delete your account before the change takes effect.

Previous versions of this policy are available on request by emailing privacy@lifemaintenance.io.
